MAYSVILLE - Werner Bieri, 60, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013.
He was born in Winterthur, Switzerland, the son of the late Ernest and Lydia Baltensberger Bieri. Werner was educated in Switzerland, where he graduated with a degree in Agriculture from the Agro Technical School in Lausanne and also holds a degree in business and economics from the business school in Winterthur. Werner spent three years in the Swiss Army, where he rose to the rank of captain. After his military experience, Werner worked for six years with a consulting firm in Winterthur. He built strong contacts with numerous Swiss based manufacturing companies, such as the national air carrier Swissair, chemical manufacturer Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz, machinery manufacture's Sulzer Corporation, Rieter Corporation, and others. Werner then worked four years in an agricultural equipment import company before joining Hermann Buhler AG in 1984. Mr. Bieri had recently formed New Shores, Inc., where he served as owner/CEO
Survivors include his wife, Astuti Sari Bieri; daughters, Carolina Sari Bieri and Cassandra Dewi Bieri, all of Maysville; sisters, Heidi Bieri, M.D. and Marlies Rubin, both of Switzerland; and brother, Ernest Bieri, Canada.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9, at 12 noon in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. at Evans Funeral Home, 1350 Winder Highway Jefferson, Ga. 30549, prior to the service. A reception will be at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson, 246 Washington Street, Jefferson, GA 30549 at 1 p.m. immediately after the memorial service.
