CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - Amy Marie MacDougall Aldrich was 92 years young at the time of departure from this temporary, earthly vessel on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 12:45 p.m.
Amy Aldrich was born in Oklee, Minnesota on July 28, 1921, the daughter of the late Gordon and Lillian MacDougall, and joined in Holy Matrimony to Harold Aldrich on June 2, 1941, a happy, 69-year union. Mrs. Aldrich was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Aldrich.
The Aldrich's resided in Lansing and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Amy and Harold Aldrich were faithful members and supporters of Calvary Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids. Mrs. Aldrich's career included employment at The Gordon Fennell Company in Cedar Rapids, Cedar Rapids City Hall, and Washington High School. Amy Aldrich was best known for her dedication to her husband and family, as homemaker and housewife throughout her adult life.
Survivors include six children, Judy (Ken) Buch, Wendell (Mary) Aldrich, Stanley (Doris) Aldrich, Wayne Aldrich, Betty (Gary) Karkosh, and Donna (Mark) Anderson; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service and Life Celebration for Mrs. Aldrich was held Saturday, November 2, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Reverend and Pastor Jay Jentink officiated. Burial was at the Center Baptist Church Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa.
