HOSCHTON - John Robert Sharp, Jr., 88, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Gwinnett Hospital System.
He was born in Englewood, N.J. on February 9, 1925, the son of the late John Robert and Alma Augusta Sharp, Sr. and was a retired sales rep for John R. Sharp Associates, Inc. He was an active member of St. Brendans Catholic Church in Clearwater, Fla. for 25 years, where he served as an usher. During his brief year (2012-2013) living in Deaton Creek, he developed many friends and enjoyed being part of the Military Club, Bocce Club and attending Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Mr. Sharp was the past president of Island Estates Civic Association, Sertoma Club and Tuesday Stag Luncheon Club. He enjoyed equestrian activities such as working with handicap children in therapeutic programs, was an avid golfer, enjoyed boating, and served in many capacities of the Island Estate Yacht Club. He was also known for his big smile, blue eyes, and sense of humor. Mr. Sharp was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Susan Sharp, six years ago, of whom he was married to for 61 years; son, Jeff Sharp; and grandchild, Broderick Manekin.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John R. and Donna Sharp, III, Sorrento, Fla. and R.J. and Phyllis Sharp, Manhatten Beach, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Mark Gregg, Hoschton; daughter, Barbara Sharp, Middleburg, Va.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at St. Brendans Catholic Church in Clearwater, Fla. at a later date.
