WINDER – Winford “Wink” Edmond Orr, 85, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013.
He was the son of the late John William Orr Sr. and Bertha Sauls Orr. Mr. Orr was preceded in death by a brother, J.W. Orr Jr. During his life he attended Union Baptist Church and was a graduate of Winder-Barrow High School, where he played football. He went on to attend the John Marshall School of Law. From 1945 to 1959 he served in the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He was a longtime local merchant and businessman, an avid outdoorsman, golfer, and a football enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife, LaRue Orr, Winder; sons, Dr. Stephen (Bonnie) Orr and Mark (Becky) Orr, all of Winder; and seven grandchildren, Asher, Sarahbeth, Evan, Jesslyn, Clint, Clay and Ben Orr.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 3, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday, October 4, with Rev. Ronnie Hewatt officiating. The interment will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens in Winder.
