Carrie Sims Brown, 96, of Gainesville, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
Born in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late John William and Alice Laredo Thomes Sims. She was the oldest attending member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, William Arthur Brown; and a son, Ernest Willie “Bill” Brown.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Brown Loe, Lawrenceville; son and daughter-in-law, Larry Joel and Janice Brown, Gainesville; granddaughters, Carol Ann Baker, Homer, Robin Loe, Lawrenceville, Joan Ausburn, Cumming, Kristy Elaine Grizzle and Erin Michelle Brown, both of Gainesville; grandsons, Joey Patrick Brown and Timothy Scott Brown, both of Gainesville; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 16, at 4:30 p.m., at Timber Ridge Baptist Church with the Revs. Dean Bryant, Chris York and Alvin Burns officiating. Her remains will lie in state at the church from 4 to 4:30 p.m. prior to the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 15, from 3 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
