ATHENS - Betty Fowler Russell, 78, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Silverleaf Centers for Alzheimer's Care in Athens.
She was born in Danielsville on October 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Oscar Haley Fowler and Vera Mae Crowe Fowler. She was a medical assistant having worked with Dr. Goodlow Irwin and was of the Methodist denomination. Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, A.T. Russell; two brothers, John Willis Fowler and George A. Fowler; and a sister, Ann Fowler McCombs.
Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Branson (Norma) Fowler and Gary (Frances) Fowler; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Traci, Van and all the caregivers at Silverleaf Center for Alzheimer's Care of Athens for their years of caring for Mrs. Russell. The family would also like to thank Silverleaf Hospice for their care during her illness.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 25, at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Linda McCord and Glenn Lyles officiating. Interment was in the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
