DACULA - Geoffrey Wayne Catledge, 47, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness.
He was born May 16, 1966, the son of Norman Scott Catledge and Pamela Kelly Juarez in Greenville, S.C. and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was retired from the United States Army National Guard, where he had served for 28 years, and represented Georgia in one tour of Service to Afghanistan and one tour of Bosnia. He was a member of Veteran Affairs; Family Readiness Chairman; graduate of Gainesville College in 1993 with a Human Resource degree; graduate of Brenau University in 1995 with a Bachelor's of Science; an avid traveler; enjoyed Karaoke; and was a champion at Scrabble.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Pamela Kelly and Policarpio Juarez, Gainesville; father and wife, Norman Scott and Pafra Catledge, Orlando, Fla.; fiancé, Rebecca Hancock, Dacula; son, Jonathon Wayne Catledge, Dacula; daughters, Paige Catledge, Flowery Branch, and Lacey Kelly Catledge, Buford; grandchildren, Bailey Catledge, Ava Catledge, and Charlie Catledge; brothers, Michael Catledge and Kelly Catledge, both of Gainesville; sister, Tanya Mallach, Gainesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 3, from the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with full military honors following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 2, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
