HOSCHTON - Charles Maurice Stancil, 68, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013.
He loved his family and church where he served as treasurer and played the bass guitar. He also played with The Band of Gold, New Heart, Changing Tides and The Taxman Air Force Band. He was a member of the Dixie Cruiser Street Club and the American Street Rodders. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Mr. Stancil was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Sarah Irene Stancil.
Survivors include his loving wife of nine years Sharon Phagan Dodd Stancil; son, Charles Ryan "Chuck" Stancil, Flowery Branch; daughters, Lisa Stovall (Ernie), Hoschton, Tina Hayes (Dwayne), Braselton, Lisa Campbell (Tony), Winder, and Kay Davis (Jacob), Pendergrass; sisters, Winona Young (Warren), Atlanta, and Sylvia DeLong, Hoschton; seven grandchildren; a niece, Rita McDaniel (Phil) and their daughters, Charley, Chelsey, and Cambrey; nephew, Danny DeLong; and a host of other relatives.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 3, at the Center United Methodist Church. The Revs. Blane Spence, William Clayton and Glenn Parrish will be officiating. A visitation will not be held prior to services.
