LAVONIA - Mary Marlow McElhannon, 82, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, at Heritage Health Care of Toccoa.
Born May 24, 1931 in Winder, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Susan Shelton Marlow. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mary loved to read and take care of her family, loved ones stated. Mrs. McElhannon was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ervin McElhannon; a granddaughter, Carrie Bender; seven sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Richard Bender and Melanie and Terry Ferguson; grandchildren, Brad and Denise Bender, Lacey Ferguson, and Shea Ferguson; great-granddaughter, Taylor Bender; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, from the chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Jason DeFoor officiating. Burial will follow at Roselane Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church of Lavonia.
The family will be at the home of Susan and Richard Bender.
