ATHENS - Leola Katherine Zahner Wages, 85, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013.
A native of Perry County, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Ganarous and Meda Zahner. She was a beautician and stylist who worked in her home and later at Lanier Gardens. Mrs. Wages was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clarence Wages; and siblings, Earl, Merlin, Allen, and Glennon Zahner, Irene Wilkinson, and Lorene Mattison.
Survivors include sisters, Helen Ingles, Eldon, Mo. and Sr. Stella Zahner, Bountiful, Utah; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Jena Wages, Athens; son, Paul Wages, Decatur; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Claude Godfrey, Athens; grandson, wife and great-grandson, Chris Godfrey, Theresa Wright and Finn Godfrey, Athens; grandson, Mark Godfrey, Winston-Salem, N.C.; grandson, wife and great-granddaughter, Brian, Cassie and McKinsey Wages, Tucker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to St. Mary's Hospice House, St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Athens.
