FLOWERY BRANCH - Edward Hodges, 77, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at Meadowbrooks Healthcare.
He was born October 27, 1935, in Fulton County the son of the late Oliver and Estelle Hodges. He served in the United States Army and was a machine operator for Lucent Technologies. Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde Hodges, Robert Hodges and Johnny Mendez; and sisters, Cola Mae Mintz and Lois Hodges.
Survivors include a son, Reginald Hodges, Tucker; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Yvette Hodges, Gainesville, Hirin and Sharon Hodges, Flowery Branch, and Felix and Karen Hodges, Kileen, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Vanedra and Major General Leslie C. Smith, Fort Leonardwood, Mo.; daughters, Miranda Sykes, Flowery Branch, and Fertina Brown, McDonough; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Gwendlyn Banks, Gainesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 20, at Memorial Park South Chapel with interment following at Alta Vista Cemetery. The Rev. B.H. Bailey will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
