DANIELSVILLE - John Wilmer McLendon, 67, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Franklin County on September 11, 1945, the son of the late Wilmer Buck and Louella Nix McLendon. He was a mechanic retired from Nash Truck Parts. Mr. McLendon was a United States Army Veteran having served during Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Phillips McLendon, Danielsville; children, Johnny Wayne (Angie) McLendon, Danielsville, Connie (David, Jr.) Spruill, Colbert, and Christy (Terrell) Bailey, Hull; grandchildren, Kyle, Abigail, John Wyatt, Brooke, Danielle, Courtney, Layla, Lee, and Claire.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, at the New Hope Worship Center Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Bishop officiating. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28. The family is at the home.
