MONROE – Martha Stinchcomb Gaddis Garrett, 89, died Thursday, May 16, 2013.
She was the daughter of the late Giley and Essie Allen Stinchcomb. A native of Winder, she loved spending time with her family, was a Fox News enthusiast, and loved listening to her public safety scanner. She was a member of the Commerce Church of God, and will be remembered as always selfless and never complaining. Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by husbands, James William Gaddis and Ernest Lee Garrett; sons, Bobby Gene Gaddis and Jimmy Garrett; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include sons, Billy Joe Gaddis and wife Glynda, Winder, and Charles Garrett and wife Sara, Statham; daughter, Patsy Gaddis Gordon, Monroe; daughter-in-law, Peggy Garrett, Statham; brothers, W.L. “Bill” Stinchcomb, Watkinsville, Gene Stinchcomb, Randolph Stinchcomb, and Tommy Stinchcomb, all of Winder; grandchildren, Lance Johnson, Bobbi Jo Ayers, Terri Johnson and husband Alan, William Lee Ayers, Laura Pace, Paula McCain, Misty Smith, Lee Johnson, James Gaddis, Johnny Gaddis, Melissa Ward, Gary “Wormy” Gaddis, Becky Garrett, Tammy Garrett, Jason Savage, Tina Westerfield, and Lisa Ford; and 41 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18, in Smith Memory Chapel in Winder. Burial was at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Winder.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
