WINDER – Charles “Charlie” Kilpatrick, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013.
He was the son of the late Bryant Whitfield and Marie Kilpatrick. Mr. Kilpatrick was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Smith Kilpatrick.
During his life he worked as a probation officer for Georgia’s Pardons and Paroles. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Winder First United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men’s Club. He was also a member of the Winder Kiwanis Club and the Lion’s Club. Golfing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were among his favorite things to do.
Survivors include three sons, Wesley (Harriet) Kilpatrick, Winder, Barry Kilpatrick (fiancé Tonya Wood), Hoschton, and Eric (Lisa) Kilpatrick, Olney, Md.; sister, Dorothy McBrayer, Canton; eight grandchildren, Brandon Kilpatrick, Greer, S.C., Brian Kilpatrick, Winder, Dean and Ella Kilpatrick, Olney, Md., Adam (Kim) Kilpatrick, Loganville, Leah Hannaford, Raeford, N.C., Jett Bowen, Athens, and Jori Bowen, Oakwood; and one great-grandchild, Joshua Hannaford.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 17, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with the Revs. Terry Tippens and Larry Rary, Ret., officiating. Burial will be at Barrow Memorial Gardens in Winder. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, May 16, from 6 to 8 p.m.
