JEFFERSON - Sybil K. Camp, 89, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013.
She was born in Carrollton, the daughter of the late Carl Gordon Kelley and Sarah Myrtle Murphy Holladay. Mrs. Camp was a retired bookkeeper, and was employed by First Baptist Church of Jefferson and the MainStreet Newspapers. But her greatest career was assisting in raising her grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Commerce. Mrs. Camp was preceded in death by her husband, D.C. Camp; a sister, Hazel Wimberly; and two brothers, Edward Kelley and Elliott Kelley.
Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia (Kenneth) McDonald, Jefferson; grandson, Ken (Stacy) McDonald, Jefferson; granddaughter, Kristy (Austin) Gamble, Jefferson; great-grandchildren, Kendall McDonald, Tristan McDonald, Emma Gamble, and Shelby Gamble; sisters, Barbara Jones, Sharpsburg, Nancy Thaler, Fayetteville, N.C., and June Campbell, Newnan; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 30, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Commerce with Carlton Allen and the Revs. Michael Jarrett and Lee Ritchie officiating. Mrs. Camp will lie in state at the church from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, with Fred Gurley, Harrison McDonald, William Westbrooks, Bobby Vaughn, Rusty Holland and Brody Bearden honored as pallbearers. The Berean Sunday School Class will be honored as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday April 29, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home.
