George Walker Dean, 87, a pillar of the Athens business community whose influence extends far beyond his beloved Clarke County, died Thursday, October 2, 2008.
A native of Danielsville, he first came to Athens on a 4-H scholarship to attend the University of Georgia. He was owner and longtime operator of George Dean’s Men’s Store.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 5, at the Athens First United Methodist Church.
Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
