JEFFERSON - David Dorsey Hix, 72, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013.
He was born in Madison County, the son of the late Buford Hix and Lottie Williams Hix McElroy. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Hornet. He was retired from General Times in Athens, as a machinist and was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church. Mr. Hix was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Collins Hix.
Survivors include his wife, Neta Payne Hix, Jefferson; three daughters, Jenni (Steve) Cunningham, Rome, Dana (Bud) Kinney, Talmo, and Gail (Ricky) Messer, Winder; stepson, Glenn Patton, Pikeville, Ky.; sister, Wanda (Larry) Horne, Commerce; grandchildren, Kevin Kinney, Kaitlin and John David Cunningham, Austin Messer, Ched and Charlie McClure; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 10, at 2 p.m. at the Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike McLemore and Minister Tom Plank officiating. Interment will follow at Jackson Memorial Park. Those honored as pallbearers will be Shane Cobb, Tommy Horne, Scott Williams, Nelson Brock, Buster Shirley, Chris Shirley, Jake Marlowe and Lee Brock. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 9, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
