Hubert S. Logan, 76, of Athens, died Sunday, October 5, 2008.
Born on July 18, 1932, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Ferd and Lillie Arnold Logan. He was former co-owner of Logan Brothers Construction and Overhead Door of Athens and attended Faith Baptist Church in Jefferson. Mr. Logan was preceded in death by a son, Gary Logan; sisters, Alice Tate, Annie White; and a brother, Millard Logan.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Iree Hembree Logan, Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Ricky Wills, Hiawassee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Aldine and Ray Marden, Athens, Alwayne and Lee Wood and Hilda and Bill Bowman, all of Tucker; brothers and sister-in-law, Horace Logan, Herbert and Ann Logan, all of Athens; grandchildren, Keri and Brandon Sanders, Mary Morgan Logan, Ryan and Beth Wills.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Cudd, the Rev. Cecil Holcombe and Dr. Buhl Cummings officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens. Pallbearers will be Thomas Durrance, Raymond Marden, Jimmy Hembree, Danny Whitsel, Jimmy Benton, Gene Nixon and Wester Morgan. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
