Frances Irene Moore Stringer, 88, of Athens, died Monday, October 6, 2008.
She was born on February 13, 1920, in Jackson County, the daughter of the late James Willie and Ellis Crumley Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Crooked Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Stringer was preceded in death by her husband, John Allison Stringer; and a brother, Vernard Moore.
Survivors include children, Sara and Johnny Nelms, Dean and Margaret Stringer, all of Athens; a brother, Eugene Moore, Athens; grandchildren, Jay Nelms, Jake Stringer, Amy Nelms, Michael Kidd, Dustin Kidd, Brandon Kidd; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, at 3 p.m., in the Crooked Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Tom Miles and Jesse Mealor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, October 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
