JEFFERSON - Johnny Ray Carrington, 75, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013, in Jefferson, following a long illness.
He was born on July 29, 1937, in Strayhorn, Miss., the son of the late C.A. and Agnes Carrington. He retired from Westvaco after 30 years of faithful service. A longtime resident of Gwinnett County, he was a founding member of the Gwinnett County Gideons Association. He was a deacon and taught Sunday school for many years. Ray was a loving family man and blessed everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by sisters Faye Carrington and Gaye Townsend.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Linda; five children, Cindy Carrington, Baton Rouge, La., Teresa Carrington, Jefferson, Lori Patterson and husband Russ, Braselton, John Carrington and wife Cristina, Loganville, and Alan Carrington and wife Christy, Saint Marys; a sister, Shirley Jennigs and husband Lamar, Benton, Ariz.; brother, C.A. "Doc" Carrington and wife Marcia, Hendersonville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at Eternal Hills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Eternal Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Ben Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens.
