COMMERCE - Martha Janette “Janet” Howard, 64, went to be with the Lord in Heaven Thursday, March 21, 2013.
Born in Commerce, she was the daughter of Mary Wade of Commerce and the late Malcolm Chandler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Howard; brothers, Larry Chandler and Jerry Chandler; and grandson, Nicholas Wilbanks.
Janet was a wonderful, fun loving woman who never met a stranger. In 2010 Janet was diagnosed with cancer in five lymph nodes. Only given a few weeks to live, family and friends began to pray. Janet surrendered her life 100 percent to the Lord Jesus Christ and God sent a miracle down and healed her body of cancer! From that point forward, every person she met from the grocery store, beauty shop, even strangers on the street, she testified about what her Lord and Savior had done for her and what He could do for them. Even on her death bed, Janet tested free and clear of cancer! What a mighty God we serve! What God sets free is free indeed. May friends and family find peace and comfort knowing Janet is in the loving arms of her Lord Jesus Christ today.
Survivors in addition to her mother include a son, Rodney Wilbanks and wife, Brandy (Commerce); daughter, Angela Dawn Wilbanks and husband, Juan Bel Angel Martinez (Mexico); sisters, Myra and Bob Ward (Mobile, Ala.), and Wanda Chandler (Commerce); six grandchildren, Chloe Wilbanks, Courtney and husband Matt O'Bannon, Kevin Wilbanks, Kaleb Wilbanks, Stefania Bel Angel Wilbanks, Maria Guadalupe Bel Angel Wilbanks; one great-grandchild, Ollieanna O'Bannon; and five nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special "THANK YOU" to all of Janet's caregivers, including Melissa Layman and Kim Keenan.
The memorial service will be held Thursday, March 28 at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Holiness Church, 795 Macedonia Church Rd., Danielsville.
The family will receive flowers and food between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church Thursday. The Rev. Rodney Wilbanks will be officiating.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
