DECATUR - Geretha Maddox Baldwin, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2013, at her residence.
She was born July 4, 1928, in Andalusia, Ala., the daughter of the late William Oscar and Winnie Mae Maddox. She married Buren L. Baldwin September 7, 1946 and they moved to Atlanta. They opened Oak Grove Pharmacy in Decatur in 1958 and worked side by side for 43 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Buren Baldwin; brothers, Madison (Buck), Leo and Max Maddox.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Kaye Baldwin and Les Girardot, Decatur, Gaye Baldwin Maughon and husband Buddy, Buford, Faye Baldwin and her canine kids, Ocala, Fla., and Anna Raye Baldwin, Maysville; grandsons, Jamie Fountain and wife Tiare, Decatur, Michael Ogletree and wife Taylor, Austin, Texas, Hunter Fountain and wife Lauren, Tucker, and Capers Ogletree, Portland, Ore.; a sister, Mary Brown, Crestview, Fla.; brother, Gyles Maddox and wife Evelyn, Orlando, Fla.; sister-in-law, Althea Maddox, Stockbridge; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She had one great-granddaughter, Sofia Fountain, whom she absolutely adored. Her greatest love was for her family and she gave generously and tirelessly to all. Her family was truly blessed to have such a hard working and loving mother. She had a huge extended family of friends, was loved by all, and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 12, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons with Pastor L. K. Pendleton officiating.
