Cornelia Louise Trotter, 83, of Commerce, died peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2008, at BJC Hospital, after suffering a stroke on September 28.
Born in Jackson County on April 10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William Young and Elbertice Hix Barnett. She was retired from the Citizens & Southern Bank in Atlanta (now Bank of America), after many years of service. After returning to her hometown in Commerce, was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Commerce, where she enjoyed her involvement with the Sanctuary Choir, the Jolly Agers group, and the Meals-on-Wheels ministry. Mrs. Trotter was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Raymond Trotter.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond Douglas Trotter, Hartwell, Young Bryon and Marie Elaine Trotter, Flowery Branch, the Rev. Russell Alan and Laura Harris Trotter, Franklin, Tenn., and Thomas Raphael Trotter, Atlanta; brothers, William Barnett, Anderson, S.C., Raphael Barnett, Commerce, and Beeman Barnett, Thomson; sister, Donie Driver, Commerce; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 7, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Commerce with the Rev. Russell Trotter and Dr. Carlton Allen officiating, followed by a brief graveside service at Floral Hills Memory Garden in Tucker. The family will receive friends Monday, October 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
