Runell Nelms Anderson, 76, of Alto, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born in Jackson County on June 12, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Floyd J. and Eddie Hogan McDougald. She was a member of the White Creek Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Anderson; sons, David and Dean Nelms; sister, Ruth Sosebee; brothers, Buddy and Paul J. McDougald; and a grandson, Chris Irvin.
Survivors include daughters, Annette Irvin, Toccoa, and Penny Smith, Murrayville; sons, Billy McDougald, Cornelia, Dale Nelms, Cleveland, and Darrell Nelms, Alto; sisters, Lunette Stover and Dora Mae Murphy, both of Gainesville, Shirley McKenney, Duluth; brothers, Duck McDougald, Cleveland, Curtis McDougald, Social Circle, and Floyd J. McDougald Jr., Cleveland; grandchildren, Morgan Smith, Avery Smith, Chris Nelms and Jerri Mason; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 27, at White Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Anthony Shore, Mark Gunter and Paul Flynn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.
