Jerry Self Sr. (2-15-13)

BLOUNTSVILLE, ALA. - Jerry Self Sr., 67, formerly of Flowery Branch, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013.

He was born June 13, 1945 in Cullman, Ala., the son of the late Odell and Georgie Self, and served in the United States Army. He worked for 37 years at Lucent Technologies and had been a member of The Rock of Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Self; a son, Jerry Self Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kelly Self; daughter, June Self; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Stacey Self, John and Allyson Self, and Richard and Cynthia Self; step-children, Kenneth and Kim Thacker, Kelvin and Lorrie Thacker and Karen and Louis Bonora; 16 grandchildren; brothers, Billy Self and Roger Self, Sr.; sisters, Darlen Hardy, Linda Hamilton, Maxine Crock, and Cecelia Herndon; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, February 21, from the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, at the funeral home.
