Ruby Young (2-17-13)

BUFORD - Ruby Forrester Young, 84, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Peachtree Christian Hospice following a brief illness.

She was born March 8, 1928, the daughter of the late Fred and Ella Forrester in Henagar, Ala. and was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church. Ruby was a lifelong resident of Buford, sang in The Smith Quartette for many years, and worked in healthcare for over 40 years. Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Young; son, Timothy Don Smith; daughter, Brenda Faye Smith; and brothers, Delbert Forrester and Howard S. Forrester.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Smith Baker, Jefferson; daughter-in-law, Becky Smith, Jefferson; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Orr, Buford, Mildred Smith, Buford, and Lillian Boring, Mableton; sister and brother-in-law, Blonnie and Cecil Patterson, Dallas; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Forrester, Canton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, from the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Farrell Presley will officiate. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, at the funeral home.
