Roy Young (2-11-13)

COMER - Roy Gene Young, 66, died Monday, February 11, 2013.

A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late John Curtis and Geneva Booth Young.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Elaine Young; children, Melissa (Wade) Patterson and Brad (Michelle) Young; brother, Melvin (Marilyn) Young; grandchildren, Sgt. Waylon B. (Kourtnee) Whitley, Brooke (Dustin) McDaris, Jill Patterson, and Thomas Young; great-grandchildren; Kaden McDaris and Alissa McDaris; and a niece and nephew.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 16, at 11 a.m. in the Lord and Stephens, East Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Smith and Chaplin Hugh Minor officiating. Burial will follow in the Collier Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin McDaris, Dustin Hamilton, Jamie Young, Justyn Whitley, Glenn McCannon, and Mike Wilson. Honorary pallbearer will be Sgt. Waylon B. Whitley. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, February 15, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, has charge of arrangements.
