ATLANTA – Thomas Patrick Williams Jr., 68, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013.
He was born in Marietta on September 11, 1945, the son of the late Thomas Patrick Williams Sr. and Wineva Brown Williams. He attended Athens High School and The University of Georgia, where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent his leisure time scuba diving, trout fishing, and hunting with his son. Mr. Williams volunteered as a scout leader for many years. He was a commercial real estate broker and was of the Catholic denomination.
He will be remembered for his storytelling and as one longtime friend commented, several stories had become legends. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Hampton Williams, Tiger; brothers, James Williams, Athens, Joseph Williams, Nicholson, and Mark Williams, Athens; sisters, Karen W. Herring, Jefferson, and Maureen W. Little, Hayesville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends gathered Thursday, January31, to celebrate his life. Burial was at Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson in the family burial plot. The Rev. Alice T. Wood officiated.
