CHESAPEAKE, VA. - SKCM Carl F. Healan, United States Navy, Retired, 79, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.
Born in Winder, he was the son of the late Franklin and Ethel Healan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Healan; a son, Richard Wayne Healan; and several siblings, Curtis Healan, Bee Dunlap, Glenn Healan, Lois Crafton, James Healan, Mozelle Sheppard, Doyle Healan, Karene Swafford and Faye Million.
He was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Winder, a member of the Fleet Reserve and Navy Veteran, and loved genealogy, fishing, electronics, and time with his family. He was an Atlanta Braves fan.
Survivors include four daughters, Anita (Dave) Llewellyn, Chesapeake, Va., Peggy (Warren) Smith, Suffolk, Va., Nancy (Gary) Wilson, Panama City, Fla., and Linda (David), O’Neal, Norfolk, Va.; three sons, Donald (Marty) Phillips, Jefferson, Robert (Ruby) Phillips, Winder, and Billy Phillips, Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Jean Thomason, Nashville, Tenn., and Joy McDaniel, Bethlehem; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 13, at 2 p.m., at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Great Bridge Chapel. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 12.
