Irene Smith (2-6-13)

NICHOLSON - Irene Whitehead Smith, 83, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Bentley Assisted Living.

She was born in Homer, the daughter of the late Doc and Georgie Segers Phillips. She was a member of Rogers Baptist Church and was the secretary for Benton Elementary School. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy M. Whitehead.

Survivors include her second husband, Marshall G. Smith; son, Randy Whitehead (Martha), Nicholson; stepdaughter, Janet Williams (Buster), Commerce; stepson, Larry Smith (Tammy), Seneca, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Randel and Russell Whitehead.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 9, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Revs. Chad Payne, Jesse Mealor and Karl Mealor officiating. Interment will follow in Howington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, February 8, from 5 to 8 p.m.
