HOMER – Bessie Mae Martin Dooley, 89, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at a local care facility.
She was born October 29, 1923, in Banks County, where she lived all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Burie D. and Mae Reems Martin. Mrs. Dooley was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Dooley; sisters, Sally Hardy, Addie Stewart, Ruth Simmons, and Lucille Cagle; and a brother, Roy Dean Martin. She was a retired seamstress with Blue Bell Manufacturing Company with 36 years of service. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 7, at Whitfield Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy G. Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, at the funeral home.
