Phillip Daniel Strickland, 38, of Nicholson, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008.
A native of Fulton County, he was the son of Joe and Linda Strickland of Danielsville. He was employed with Silgan Closures for many years and was an avid outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed hunting. At age 19, he received a heart transplant that allowed 19 additional years with his family and friends.
Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by a sister, Melanie Strickland; brother, Kevin Strickland; and grandparents, Albert and Mary A. Wood and C.D. and Jene Strickland.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include his fiancé, Karla Benoit, Nicholson; step-children, Jordan and Faith Whiddon, both of Nicholson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Angela and James Boree, Comer, Mary Ann and Greg Smith, Warner Robins, Donna Strickland, Hull; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Lisa Strickland, Crawford, Mark and Eve Strickland, Arnoldsville, Jason and Tiffany Strickland, Winterville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 27, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Fowler officiating. Burial was in Athens Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research or Lifelink of Georgia.
