COMER – Joseph “Tank” Slaton, 50, died Friday, January 11, 2013.
He was the son of Jean Slaton of Winder and the late Howard Slaton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spotting for deer, and playing cards. He is best remembered as someone who loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Patricia Slaton, Comer; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Brenda Finley, Comer, Billy and Lisa Finley, Colbert, and Jason White, Wilmington, Va.; daughters and sons-in-law, Misty and Scott Finlay, Athens, Monti and Jason Head, Arnoldsville, CeeJa and Alfred Darsey, Cherry Point, N.C.; and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Kyle Savage officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, January 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Flowers are accepted.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
