Walter Dean Standridge, 68, of Arcade, died Sunday, September 28, 2008.
He was born in Jackson County on January 5, 1940, the son of the late Wootson and Anna Belle Payne Standridge. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and operated the Gulf Service Station on Lee St. in Jefferson many years ago. Mr. Standridge was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Smith; and brother, Harold Standridge.
Survivors include children, Lorrie Fowler, Clifton, Colo., Warren Standridge, Nicholson, Stacy Standridge and Marty Standridge, both of Center; a sister, Betty Beatty, Jefferson; brother, L.C. Standridge, Hartwell; partner, Mattie McGinty, Arcade; grandson, Colton Standridge, Jefferson; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 30, at 4 p.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Johnny Ray and Marvin Lutrell officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, September 29, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tony Beatty, Jeremy Standridge, Brian Standridge, Gerald Standridge, Ricky Beatty, Steve Frank, Tommy Smith and Chris Beatty.
