AUBURN, ALA. - Jimmy R. Davis, 78, formerly of Hoschton, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in Birmingham, Ala. on January 19, 1934. He was predeceased by his parents, Lyle M. and Margaret Cox Coker.
Mr. Davis was reared in Ashville, Ala. and graduated from Arab High School. He attended Auburn University and served in the United States Army. Mr. Davis was an entrepreneur after retiring from General Motors, where he worked for 14 years.
Survivors include nine children, J. Michael Davis (Margaret), Auburn, Ala., Melanie Davis King, Dunwoody; Richard M. Davis (Mary), Dadeville, Ala., Victoria Davis Nettles (Robert), Mascotte, Fla., Kendall Davis, Arab, Ala., Nick Davis (Sergio Marentes), Gainesville, Fla., Matthew Davis, Portland, Ore., Calla Maria Davis Boozer (David), Portland, Ore., and Andrew Davis, Nicholson; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, M. Gail Allen (Normand), Savannah; brother Donald R. Davis (Ellen), Flowery Branch; and his former wife, Calla Stephens Davis, Nicholson.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 4, at the outdoor Chapel at the Ashville City Cemetery in Ashville, Ala., with the Rev. Ed Cruce officiating.
