Rowena Lackey (12-20-12)

WINDER - Rowena Michael Lackey, 95, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 20, 2012, following an extended illness.

The daughter of the late Clifford and Rosa Sims Michael, she was a born in Sim's Town in South Barrow County, the fifth of ten children, and was a lifelong resident of Barrow County. Mrs. Lackey was a member of Hebron Christian Church. She was preceded in death her husband, Charlie M. Lackey Sr.; and a son, Nick Lackey.

Survivors include sons, Charlie M. (BJ) Lackey, Jr., Norcross, and Rex Lackey, Statham; a daughter, Victoria L. (Myron) Garrett, Winder; daughter-in-law, Charisse Lackey, Winder; grandchildren, Dean (Valerie) Garrett, Winder, Heath (Teri) Garrett, Newnan, Jarrod (Bari) Lackey, Marietta, Patrick (Lisa) Lackey, Buford, and Zeb Lackey, Statham; great-grandchildren, Hannah Garrett, Courtney Garrett, Abram Garrett, Rebekah Garrett, Alex Garrett, Grace Garrett, and Adrianna Lackey; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 22, at Barrow Memorial Gardens with Pastor Doyle Sims officiating.

Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
