COMER - Gertrude "Trudy" H. Booth, 88, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012, following a long fight with kidney cancer.
A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late G.W. and Pearl Hughes Hix. She was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Booth; a daughter, Denise B. Jordan; son, George D. Booth Jr.; and siblings, Inez Frazer, Geraldine Clements, Grinell Hix, Velton Hix, Sonny Hix, Billy Hix, and Bobby Hix.
She was retired from the Madison County school system as a lunchroom manager at Comer and was a member of Meadow Baptist Church, where she was secretary of the Adult Sunday School class since 1993.
Survivors include a son, Mark (Cathy) Booth; granddaughter, Miranda B. (Russell) Armistead; and great-grandson, Mercer Armistead; sister, Birtice Bragg; sisters-in-law, Betty and Jo Hix; son-in-law, William Jordan; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and her church family and special friends whom she loved very much.
Funeral services will be held at Meadow Baptist Church Friday, December 21, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Sarna officiating. Burial will be at Meadow Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, December 20, from 6 until 8 p.m.
