DAHLONEGA - Lester G. "L.G." Spencer, 72, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012, at his residence surrounded by family.
He was born April 4, 1940, the son of the late Reece and Fannie Mae Spencer in Cleveland, and attended Victory Baptist Church and Bethel Tabernacle C.O.G.O.P. He was a loving father and husband, who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed spending time with his loving wife and grandchildren. He was also loved very much by his family and he will forever be in our hearts, family members stated.
Mr. Spencer was also preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Allison Spencer; brothers, Talmadge Spencer, Garnett Spencer and Alton Spencer; and sisters, Catherine Spencer and Virginia Spencer.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Harris Spencer; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Teresa Spencer, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Ricky Stokes, Gainesville; daughters, Donna Gilleland, Gainesville, and Gwen McChulgh, Nickelson; stepsons, Randall Thomason, Lumpkin County, and Micheal Thomason, Jackson County; stepdaughter and husband, Beverly and David Ashe, Cleveland; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and a very special cousin, Cristine Carney, Ball Ground.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, from the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. The Revs. Scott Waters, Edmond Harris and James Kanaday will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, December 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
