DANIELSVILLE - Joe Travis Sears, 72, formerly of Jefferson, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012.
He was born in Jackson County, the son of the late Lloyd and Annie Sue Lockman Sears. Mr. Sears was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a member of the Community Chapel Baptist Church in Jefferson. Mr. Sears was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Sears; and brothers, Jerry and Roy Sears.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Frances Chandler Sears, Danielsville; daughter, Joann (Fess) Parker, Jefferson, Mary Sears, Dawsonville, and Reney (Terrell) Stinchcomb, Homer; stepchildren, Shaprelle and Dan Gunnells, Franklin County, Stacey (Shane) Freeman, Braselton, and Trandum and Sabrina Howington, Jefferson; stepsons, Gregory and Elaine Howington, Commerce, and Hoodie Howington, Commerce; brother, Ray Sears, Homer; sisters, Pat Williamson and Sylvia McDonald, both of Jefferson, and Betty Fisher and Martha Dean, both of Commerce; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 28, in the Community Chapel Baptist Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Kelby Maxwell officiating. The burial was in the Maxwell Cemetery in Nicholson.
