‘Duck’ Baxter (11-22-12)

COMMERCE - Elrige "Duck" Baxter, 83, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at his residence.

Born in Commerce, he was the son of the Henry Gilbert and Clara Beard Baxter. He was a member of Erastus Christian Church and was retired from the United States Postal Service, Commerce office. Mr. Baxter was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Adams Baxter; a brother, Mickey Baxter; and sister, Hazel Minish.

Survivors include daughters, Debbie Morris and Kay Bridges, both of Commerce; son, Ted Baxter, Commerce; sisters, Elizabeth Stephenson and Dianne Chandler, both of Commerce; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 25, at Erastus Christian Church with Mr. Billy Glosson and Mr. Steve Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, November 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

At the family's request, flowers are optional or donations may be made to Erastus Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 2050 Neese Commerce Rd., Commerce, GA 30530.
