COMER - Bertie Lou Herring, 91, wife of the late Henry David Herring, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late James and Marize Whitley Patat. She retired from Blue Bell Textiles and was a member of Oakgrove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Ernest Guest; four brothers; three sisters; a grandson, Bobby Chance Casper; her first husband, Joe C. Guest, and second husband, Henry David Herring.
Survivors include children, Joe (Betty) Guest, James (Katie) Guest, Pete Guest, Jerry R. (Evelyn) Guest, Beatrice Tench, Edward A. (Kim) Guest, Stanley L. Guest, Nancy L. (Kenny) Casper, and Henry David Herring, Jr.; a sister: Ann (John) Adams; brothers: William B. Shelton and James C. Shelton; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, at 2 p.m. at Oakgrove Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Owens and Wesley Guest officiating. Burial will follow at Vineyard Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday, November 16, at the funeral home.
