Mary Elizabeth Shelnut Wilson, 77, of Gillsville, died Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the Lanier Park Campus of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
Born in White County on March 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Susie Mote Shelnut. She was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by former husbands, James Bellotte, Sr. and Frank Wilson; sister, Carolyn Smith; and brothers, Gene and JR Shelnut. She was a beloved grandmother and mother, loved ones added.
Survivors include daughters, Brenda Aldridge and Loretta Meeks, both of Gillsville, Teresa Mote, Lula, Marlene Kingsburg, Clearwater, Fla., and Tammy Greenway, Mt. Olive, N.C.; sons, James Bellotte and Keith Bellotte, both of Lula, Herbert Bellotte, Cornelia, and Tony Wilson, Baldwin; sisters, Doris Valsco, Tampa, Fla.; brother, Perry Shelnut, Demorest; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 24, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Lee Mitchell and Harrill Millsap officiating. Burial will be in Camp Creek Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, September 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, is in charge of arrangements.
