David Nooney (11-16-12)

BETHLEHEM - David W. Nooney, 47, passed away peacefully Friday, Friday, November 16, 2012, following a long battle with heart failure. He was surrounded by the ones he loved, laughed with and lived for.

David was an incredibly intelligent man who enjoyed technology, politics and history. Although he battled multiple illnesses and physical limitations, David stayed in touch with family and friends. Even in the worst, David kept his sense of humor and always had a joke to tell everyone. David’s greatest gift was the ability to make people laugh. David attended the University of West Georgia and worked as a freight broker until the onset of his illness in 2002. He had many longtime clients many of which became his close friends. The Family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the people who have helped and supported them. The outpouring of prayers and the sharing of stories was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We are also very grateful for the dedication of the hospice team, the family stated. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him. David was preceded in death by his parents Mitzi Riggins and Wesley Nooney; a sister, Nanci Drake; and nephew, Steven Drake.

Survivors include his loving and very devoted wife, Lisa; three sons he loved deeply and whom he was very proud of, Chris, Nate and Tony; brother, Patrick Nooney and wife Ronda, Charlotte, N.C.; and sister, Susan Newton and partner Judy Nelson of Roanoke, Va.; stepfather, Ward P. Riggins, Jesup; step-siblings, Skipper and Leslie Riggins, Jesup, Connie Riggins, Richmond Hill, and Bobby Riggins, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service was held Monday, November 19, from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Father Don Harris officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 174 St. Anthony Dr., Winder, GA 30680.
