Myrtle Smith Hancock of Athens, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at the home of her daughter in White Pine, Tenn.
She was born November 9, 1913, in Clarke County, the daughter of the late Comus B. and Evie Lee Smith, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mrs. Hancock was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford D. Hancock; brother, Allen Grady Smith; sisters, Ruby Teet and Maebel Rowden; granddaughter, Susan Magdeburger.
Survivors include daughters, Ann Magdeburger, Solomons Island, Md., and Jean and William Sanders, White Pine, Tenn.; a son, Tommy Hancock, Comer; grandchildren, Vicki O’Hara, Steven (Natalie) Magdeburger and Laura Magdeburger, all of Maryland, Bill (Michelle) Sanders, Deborah (Mike) Headrick, Ken (Kim) Sanders and Emily (Timmy) Townsend, all of Tennessee, and David (Lisa) Hancock, Scott Hancock and Jeff (Amy) Hancock, all of Georgia; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Sunday, September 21, at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Phillips officiating.
Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
