DANIELSVILLE - Shirley Mae Vanderburg Phillips, 77, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the Ty Cobb Health Care Center in Comer.
She was born in Rowan County, N.C. on June 3, 1935, the daughter of the late Robert and Myrtle Spry Vanderburg. She was a technician having worked with Reliance and a member of the New Hope Worship Center. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lee Phillips; and a brother, Robert (Bobby) Vanderburg.
Survivors include children, Joe (Darlene) Phillips, Danielsville, Virginia (John) McLendon, Danielsville, and Sherry (Douglas) McLendon, Danielsville; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Max Vanderburg and Ray Vanderburg. both of North Carolina; and a sister, Ruby Baumgardner, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 3, at the New Hope Worship Center in Danielsville, with the Revs. Mike Spence and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until funeral hour Saturday afternoon. The family is at the home of Virginia and John McLendon, 4191 Hudson River Church Rd., Danielsville, GA 30633.
