FLOWERY BRANCH - Gary J. Gallo, 70, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at Vista Care Hospice following an extended illness.
He was born September 4, 1942, the son of the late Michael and Esther Gallo in Carlisle, Pa. and was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army for five years. Gary worked for 29 years at Akzo-Nobel in the state of New York. He was a parishioner of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where he was a member of Knights of Columbus, Men's Club, Church Usher, and volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Gallo was preceded in death by brothers, Ken Gallo, Michael Gallo and Charles Gallo; and a sister, Delores Johnston.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Debbie Gallo, Flowery Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Eric E. and Lisa Gallo, Brownsburg, Ind.; son, Todd M. Gallo, Newfane, N.Y.; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John Hout, IV, Aberdeen, N.C.; sister, Marge Collins; and grandchildren, Flora and John Hout, V, Lydia and Charys Gallo, Brianna Bogart, and Colin and Alex Gallo.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 20, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Father Eric Hill will officiate. Inurnment will be 11 a.m., Monday, October 22, at Memorial Park South Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 19, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m.
