ATHENS - Albert Felix McElroy, 86, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012. The husband of Edna H. McElroy, they were currently residing at Mulberry Grove Assisted Living Home, Statham.
Born in Banks County, he was the son of the late Albert Benton and Mary Elizabeth Carson McElroy. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Roberta Sparks and Johnnie Anderson. Mr. McElroy was retired from Georgia Power Company as foreman, 1st line supervisor, following 40 years of service. He was a member of Georgia Power Ambassadors, a United States Navy veteran and longtime member of the Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Kathy M. (Randy) Meadow, Gray; son, Steven H. (Debra) McElroy, Lexington, S.C.; grandchildren, Kevin Meadows, Christopher McElroy, and Kyle McElroy; great-grandchildren, Ava Meadows and Evan Meadows; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 19, at 2 p.m. at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST, with the Revs. Bill Ricketts and Jerry Price officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Meadows, Christopher McElroy, Kyle McElroy, Paul Lester, Scott Lester and Billy Thomas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, October 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. and will also be at the residence of Paulette Anderson, Watkinsville, GA.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
