Ruth Naomi Turpen, 85, of Hoschton, formerly of Lawrenceville, died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following a sudden illness.
She was a native of the New Holland Community and was the daughter of the late William Sargent and Naomi Jones Sargent. She was retired from the Gwinnett County School System and was Methodist. Mrs. Turpen was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph T. Turpen; a son, Tommy Turpen; brothers, Bobby Sargent, D.W. Sargent and Fulton Sargent; sisters, Mayrelle Lancaster, Irene Massey and Imogene Sargent.
Survivors include children, John B. Turpen, Hoschton, Edith Ostrye, Murrayville, Lola Dodd and Douglas Turpen, both of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Suzanne, Oliver, Al, Joseph and Teela; great-grandchildren, Tatum, Brock and Mack; sisters, Edith Seabolt, Ballground, and Macie Crain, Murphy, N.C.; brother, Raymond Sargent, Gainesville; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.
