WINDER - Dorothy Eugenia Borders Shirley, 81, formerly of Stone Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012.
She was born in Commerce, the daughter of the late Brandon and Rilla Borders. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She was also a licensed cosmetologist and volunteered at DeKalb Medical Center for many years. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Stone Mountain. Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Clayton Shirley; and brothers, Thurmond Borders, Lamartine Borders and Larry Borders.
Survivors include a son, David C. Shirley, Atlanta; daughters, Lisa M. Shirley, Winder, Terri J. Shirley, Winder, and Pamela J. Ferebee, Athens; sister, Joann Wallis, Cumming; grandchildren, Heather Johnson and Natalie Topham; and a great-grandchild, Ashley Topham.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 21, at 11 a.m., at the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Barrett officiating. The burial will follow in the Apple Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with Kyran Murnane, Robin Lord, Wayne Wallis, and Philip Merk honored as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Thursday, September 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
