MAYSVILLE - Ray McClure, 91, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in White County, the son of the late Walter and Myrtle Johnson McClure. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, where he received three purple hearts and many other honors. Mr. McClure was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny McClure.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Edna Crane McClure, Maysville; a daughter, Joann McClure, Atlanta; sisters, Faye Lindsey and Mary Hayes, both of Maysville; brother, Lloyd McClure, Jefferson; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and special caregiver, Joyce Turpin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 21, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Revs. Ralph Ashley and Glenn Vollrath officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, September 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.
